All incoming freshmen at the University of Nevada, Reno are eligible for special scholarships ranging from $500 to $8,000. The general scholarship program is limited to the state of Nevada. However, there may be other grants for non-residents.
You can apply for these scholarships after applying and activating your student portal (MyNEVADA account). You don’t have to wait for this scholarship application to be accepted, but please submit your request for approval early so that you can apply before February 15th. Named after former Congressman Mink, this scholarship is open to students who are at least 17 years old and are planning to pursue a certificate, degree or academic program in a minor. Applicants must meet minimum status under IRS tax rules.
This scholarship is awarded to Howard Community College students who are single parents with dependent children. Preference will be given to students majoring in business or related fields.
