Graduate School Fellowships For Minority Students In Boston, Massachusetts – Founded in 1976 at the University of Notre Dame. We have worked quietly and steadily to train 5,000 scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, inventors and business leaders, including more than 300 men and women with doctorates in physics, biology and engineering. .

GEM is a unique and powerful link to a national network of universities and employers (companies and national laboratories). GEM connects highly qualified students, particularly from underrepresented groups, to STEM degree programs with much-needed funding, often a deciding factor in graduate school applications.

GEM’s fellowship programs cover all areas of recruitment, retention and professional development. GEM’s primary mission is to provide master’s and doctoral graduate fellowships with paid summer internships. GEM also offers unpaid summer internship fellowships through our GEM University and Affiliate Fellowship programs. These are candidates nominated by universities that meet certain criteria (applicants cannot select a university/affiliate).

The Lindsay Fellowship Program

The GEM GRAD Lab (Ready for Advance Degree Laboratory) is a mobile graduate program established at GEM member college campuses or a GEM partner national conference to provide opportunities for underrepresented undergraduate students, particularly in STEM, if benefit from a diploma. access cutting-edge scientific and engineering careers in a highly interactive one-day event. Fall GRAD Labs are held from September to November each year at GEM member universities as stand-alone campus support events or as regional collaborations between GEM member universities and GEM employers. Become our national GEM GRAD Labs sponsor for branding, branding and advertising placements at 12 to 15 GRAD Lab events per academic year.

Our national MOU partners, who represent our target groups that are mainly underrepresented, organize the GEM GRAD Lab every year. GEM hosts GRAD Labs at member campuses across the country. Supporting the GRAD GEM Lab at a partner university and/or key geographic location allows for strategic branding at the top of the talent pipeline. Specify an area of interest and we will find a partner university to accommodate that market.

The Future Teachers and Professionals Symposium is GEM’s career development program for future teachers and industry professionals. The goal of the FFP Symposium is to provide graduate students with enhanced research and career competition, tools and metrics for excellent career planning management, and access to a powerful network of peers and mentors.

Become our national FFP sponsor to receive branding, branding and advertising at national FFP events in Miami Beach, FL 3-5. in August 2016.

Each GEM university or employer member is encouraged to sponsor at least one (1) FFP travel scholarship. Travel grants offer your current GEM students or graduate students the opportunity to take advantage of this program specifically tailored to your needs and support successful enrollment to complete a STEM degree. Celebrating Your Connection

The Concept Art Competition will be held during the 2016 Annual Board Meeting and Conference in Miami Beach, FL. A diverse mix of employers, researchers, and universities will present and/or evaluate GEM fellows’ current summer research projects. Students also participate in workshops that address current issues related to the complex and changing topic of academic and research success.

Today, a growing percentage of young people with advanced training in science or engineering are former GEM fellows. GEM Fellows are essential to the continued success of the GEM Fellowship program. In addition to supporting student-funded scholarships, many serve as GEM Ambassadors in their workplaces and as speakers at GEM GRAD Labs, FFP Symposia, and informational sessions across the country. By sponsoring GEM Alumni programs, your company or university can directly reach out to and promote nearly 4,000 nearby GEM alumni; underrepresented individuals with a master’s or doctorate in the STEM field.

GEM hosts social events across the country for local students studying in the GRAD Lab to interact and meet GEM staff, sponsors, and university hosts. These events also provide a unique opportunity for potential GEM partners to network and engage with our GEM alumni about the challenges and triumphs of graduate school. Event sponsors benefit from sales opportunities in event collateral materials and during an active event.

The GEM Alumni Association meets once a year at the GEM Annual Council Meeting and Conference. Display your institution’s logo at all alumni conference events and on the GEM Alumni website.

Visiting Research Internship Program

Help the GEM alumni community grow by supporting the development of a comprehensive database of young technical professionals with STEM degrees.

All relevant and complete GEM grant applications will be assessed by two referees representing academics, industry and research partners. This renowned panel of judges meets for two days to evaluate the candidates. Sponsoring this meeting provides your institution with the benefit of collaborative research opportunities while also providing in-kind support for GEM’s mission.

A popular forum to discuss innovative solutions for advancing graduate education, the Board’s Annual Meeting and Conference provides a platform to raise national awareness of its work, partners, and fellows. This is a “must see” event for advocates who want to change the way the United States educates and prepares engineering and science talent for high-level leadership roles, especially among historically underrepresented indigenous ethnic groups. Like GEM, our annual conference offers countless opportunities for all of our partners. If you are a Massachusetts resident and have an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less, you can attend Mass Boston for $0 in tuition and fees.

The Beacon Pledge is Mass Boston’s promise to keep higher education affordable for Massachusetts residents. The goal of the Beacon Pledge program is to remove financial barriers and reduce the cost of college.
