The Army Women’s Foundation (AWF) offers several scholarships to honor the work of military women. The last of these is the Six Triple Eight Foundation Scholarship. This is a new decoration in recognition of Battalion 6888 of the Central Directorate of Posts. It was an all-black WAC unit of over 800 women that was deployed during World War II. The NCO Scholarship Fund awards 20 to 50 scholarships each year. They are selected as dependent children or non-uniformed spouses of active duty military personnel. The military child grant also covers foster children and stepchildren.
