I choose nursing because of my passion to help others and make a positive impact on people’s lives. Nursing is not just a profession to me; It is a calling that perfectly aligns with my values of compassion, empathy and service to others. The opportunity to be with people at their most vulnerable, providing comfort and support and advocating for their well-being made me want to become a nurse. I have been interested in healthcare since childhood. Whether it’s taking care of younger siblings, volunteering at community centers, or listening to friends in need, I’ve always had a natural inclination to care for others. This experience fueled my desire to pursue a career where I can make a meaningful and direct impact on the lives of those in need. What particularly attracts me to pediatric nursing is the unique opportunity to work with children and their families at important stages in their lives. Children are very resilient, but they need special attention that takes into account their developmental needs and emotional well-being. As a pediatric nurse, I want to be a source of comfort and support for children with illness or injury, helping them manage their health with compassion and understanding. Pediatric nursing also appeals to me because it involves working closely with families. I believe that the health and well-being of children is very much related to the support system of the family. By building trusting relationships with parents and caregivers, I am able to provide not only medical care to children, but also emotional support and guidance for the entire family. I find it very rewarding to inform and educate parents about their child’s condition and treatment plan. Additionally, I am drawn to the variety and challenges that pediatric nursing offers. Each day presents new and unique cases that require nurses to adapt, think critically, and work with multidisciplinary teams to provide the best care possible. Whether it’s administering medications, monitoring vital signs, or providing a comforting presence, pediatric nurses play an important role in the comprehensive care of young patients. In addition, I am inspired by the resilience and joy of children. Despite illness or adversity, children often feel a sense of wonder and positivity, which is truly remarkable. It is a privilege I take lightly to promote their well-being and witness their strength. Ultimately, I choose nursing because of my innate desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Pediatric nursing appeals to me because of the opportunity to work with children and their families in particularly difficult times, providing comprehensive care that takes into account both physical and emotional needs, the diversity of problems, and the resilience and joy that children have. including I am passionate about becoming a pediatric nurse and eager to embark on this rewarding and rewarding journey by caring for the youngest children in our community.
Experiencing the birth of a child is an opening and a blessing. So I want to expand my knowledge and become a labor and delivery nurse. My name is Madeline and I am 21 years old. I am looking to further my education and become the best nurse I can be. As a child, I loved playing “doctor” with my little fake stethoscope and pretending to save my friends’ lives. As I’ve gotten older, my mission hasn’t changed, I still want to help people and be an advocate for my patients and their families. In high school, I was part of a vocational and technical program dedicated to nursing. I passed my skills/paper test in my final year and got my STNA license shortly after I started working with people with Alzheimer’s and dementia. I learned a lot from resident care. When no one comes to visit, I am their voice and a member of their family, and I am grateful for that. In 2022 I attended Portage Lakes Career Center and enrolled in a 9 month accelerated program and received my LPN license. Since then I have worked in a medical clinic for gynecological cancer patients. At first, I wanted to work in a hospital ward and be with the little ones fighting for their lives, but when I thought about it, I felt that I was not strong enough mentally and emotionally. I am very hopeful that gaining more experience and completing my RN will give me the confidence to continue my career as a NICU nurse. For now, after I graduate with my RN, I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. For me, pediatric nursing helps protect those who help develop and improve the world. For the families of these children, I want to hold their hands, stay calm at their bedside, and give them peace of mind knowing they have the best nurse to care for their children. Due to the pandemic, there is a shortage of nurses everywhere in the US and it is very scary. There are not many hospitals, nurses or doctors to help those with a serious or chronic illness. But I believe the nursing community is growing and I want to be a part of it. One thing I love about nursing is that the opportunities are endless, there are so many careers and specialties, I want to try them all, but the future is unknown. I look forward to continuing my education and working toward my goal of becoming a labor and delivery nurse and pediatric nurse practitioner at NUCI.
Growing up in a refugee camp in Kenya, I was exposed to the harsh reality of limited access to health care and saw firsthand the struggle to get the medical care my family and community needed. This experience had a profound impact on me and shaped my desire to pursue a career in nursing. I am passionate about becoming a nurse because it allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of others with my positive personality, strong work ethic, and desire to learn. I was particularly drawn to pediatric nursing because of my passion for working with children and giving them the care and attention they need to grow and develop into healthy adults. In addition to my passion for pediatric nursing, I am committed to continuing my education, expanding my knowledge and skills in the field, and staying abreast of the latest research and advances in healthcare. I am excited to take on new challenges and opportunities to further develop my skills and provide the best possible care to my patients. I understand the importance of teamwork, so I am committed to being an active member of the healthcare team and working with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for my patients. I believe I can make a real impact on the lives of children and their families with the care, compassion and skills I bring to the field of pediatric nursing. Ultimately, I am determined to use my compassion, dedication, and desire to learn to positively impact the world through my career in nursing, specifically pediatric nursing. With the passion and commitment I bring to this field, I believe I can make a difference in the lives of children and their families. Losing a close family member or loved one strengthened my determination to focus on what is most important in life and fight for what I believe in. I am confident that my commitment to continuing my education, expanding my knowledge and skills, and being an active member of the healthcare team will allow me to make a positive impact on the world as a pediatric nurse. I am excited to begin my journey as a nurse and use my skills and knowledge to help others and improve the lives of children and their families.
