Student Scholarship Information
You must meet certain eligibility requirements to complete the FAFSA. Some of the requirements are that you must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen and be enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program. Additional eligibility requirements can be found on the Federal Student Aid website.

The Colorado State Application for Financial Aid (CASFA) is a form that Colorado students and their families can submit to be considered for Colorado State financial aid.

To become an ASSET student, you must meet the eligibility requirements on the Colorado Department of Higher Education CASFA website.
To be considered for MSU Denver asset status, you must apply through the Office of Admissions if you are a freshman or through the Office of the Registrar if you are a continuing student.
An ASSET student is eligible for in-state tuition at MSU Denver and may qualify for Colorado State financial aid by submitting a CASFA application.
Financial aid is available in the form of grants, work placements, loans and scholarships, all of which can help make a college education more accessible and affordable.

The process of obtaining financial aid begins with the submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete and submit the FAFSA as soon as possible to be considered for the best available aid. Financial aid is awarded on the basis of need, which is determined in part by annual income.
The information submitted through the FAFSA allows MSU Denver to determine how best to help you meet your financial needs. If you want to continue receiving financial aid throughout your academic career, you must file the FAFSA each year.

Helping you achieve your goals is at the heart of MSU Denver’s mission, and accessibility is one of our core values. That’s why we created the Road Runner Promise, a commitment to our students who demonstrate financial need with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of -1500 to 0, as shown on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you qualify for the Roadrunner offer, MSU Denver offers financial aid so that there is no tuition or required fees.

Note: The Roadrunner offer includes 15 credits per semester and you must meet the appropriate academic progress requirements each semester for financial aid.
The Útfutó offer cannot be applied to housing costs or other expenses other than tuition fees and reimbursement fees. Students eligible for the Road Runner offer are not eligible for tax credits under the State of Colorado offer.

Colorado Promise is a state program administered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Beginning in fall 2024, MSU Denver students with household incomes of $90,000 or less may be eligible for a full refund of tuition and fees paid during the first two years of their undergraduate studies. MSU Denver notifies students each year if they are eligible for the program.

Students with family incomes of $60,000 or less may qualify for MSU’s Denver Roadrunner offer, which covers tuition and mandatory fees for a four-year college. Students eligible for the Road Runner offer are not eligible for the Colorado offer.
Colorado Promise reimbursement is in the form of a tax credit that covers the amount of tuition and fees during the previous school year. After paying tuition and fees in advance, students must submit a state income tax return for the credit. It’s a refundable credit, which means that even if a student earns $0 that year and pays $0 in federal taxes, they’ll still get their full tuition and fees back. Even if students are listed as dependents on their parents’ taxes, they must submit a separate claim for tax relief.
Reimbursement is only for expenses remaining after other scholarships and grants have been used, and is only for tuition and fees, not housing or indirect costs. MSU Denver notifies students each year if they are eligible for the program.
