Four-year scholarships for Washington State residents are available through the College Success Foundation (www.collegesuccessfoundation.org) to Jewish students with significant financial need. The application process usually starts in mid-January and applications close in mid-March. This is a need based scholarship. If you are eligible, fill and submit the application. Although limited, Howard University has several options for summer aid for students. Information, requirements and deadlines are available.

The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available beginning October 1 of the year preceding the academic year. The FAFSA is processed in several steps before it is completed and filed with the Office of Financial Aid, Scholarships and Student Employment.

When completing the FAFSA online, tax preparers are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA. The purpose of this benefits package is to help you if you decide to attend Howard University. Please read the instructions carefully. Receiving the scholarship will allow me to focus more on other aspects of attending Howard and have a more rewarding experience. The DC Scholars program is designed to help young parents in the Washington, DC area achieve their college dreams.

Being the young parent of a college student can be lonely and stressful. We surround our scholars with guidance, care and support. Scholars receive free mental health services, one-on-one coaching, case management from HOPE coaches and a peer community of young college parents.

Balancing classes, work and raising children is difficult. We ease this burden with tuition assistance of up to $2,400 per year and access to emergency funds. We also provide job readiness support to help scholars pursue careers that support their families after graduation.
