The 2024 winners represent a variety of academic programs and colleges. They also come from all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and overseas. Most of them are children of federal employees who serve in 80 federal departments and agencies. Others are grandchildren of retired federal employees, spouses of federal employees, and government employees.

Gupta, a third-year biomedical engineering student, has been interested in stem cells since high school.
