Applicants can apply for the Beacon Pledge by completing the UMass Boston application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA).

UMass Boston educates a large and growing population of students in the state, many of whom are the first in their family to attend college. For many years, consistent with our mission to provide an exceptional and accessible education, the university has given tens of millions of dollars in institutional grants to help students in need.

Thanks to Healey-Driscoll’s investment in MassGrant Plus and MassGrant Plus Expansion, eligible students will have their tuition and fees fully covered through a combination of federal, state and administrative aid.

This exciting new initiative will make the dream of higher education more accessible to BPS students and families while reducing costs at home.
