Its mission is to empower Latinos and create better lives for all Latinos through education, leadership development and advocacy. MANA also emphasizes personal empowerment, professional development and community involvement.
With this mission in mind, MANA established a scholarship program in 1996, and awarded scholarships annually. From 2023, MANA has awarded 149 scholarships to Latin American doctoral students. MANA scholarships can be used to supplement a student’s education budget to cover tuition, books, transportation, supplies, and other school-related expenses.
MANA is pleased to announce that the 2024 scholarship application process is now open and Latino/Hispanic high school, college and/or business students may apply online at the MANA website at https://www.manademetrodetroit.com
We are excited to announce new Latin scholarships for bilingual/ESL teachers this year. In recognition of Gloria Rosa’s lifelong bilingual education advocacy and service to Latino students and their families, MANA is honored to establish the Gloria Rosa Teacher Scholarship.
Byu Management Society Scholarship
During the 2024-2025 academic year, MANA will award five (5) different scholarships, as well as renewal scholarships, to outstanding high school seniors and Latino students majoring in college or business. Each scholarship is valued at two thousand ($2000). This scholarship is linked to a number of applications posted on the MANA website. Eligible applicants may apply for one or more scholarships, but only one scholarship will be awarded. The five categories of scholarships are:
The Monica L. Martinez Leadership Scholarship, which provides support to students who wish to follow Monica L. Martinez’s path of leadership and community involvement;
PhD. The Ellen Ochoa STEM Scholarship in Support of Latin was created to follow the initiative of Dr. Ellen Ochoa. Ochoa is in science, technology, engineering or mathematics;
Gloria Rosas Teacher Education Scholarship Assists students in teacher education and increases the number of bilingual and ESL teachers
Loyola Launches $9m Campaign To Build New Chapel, Fund Tuition, Retain Teachers- Detroit Catholic
Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships? Latina/Hispanic women seeking college degrees or vocational school and training are residents of Detroit and the Detroit metro area. High school students or individuals with a GED, students enrolled in colleges or vocational high schools, and students who wish to renew the MANA scholarship are eligible to apply.
