Seattle Promise is designed to prepare students for career success and increase the number of Seattle public high school graduates who earn certificates, credentials and degrees. Dedicated success specialists guide scholars from high school through college graduation and provide assistance with financial aid, admissions applications, class selection and registration. Specialists work with college access programs in Seattle Public Schools and the broader community. Students have increased access to advisors (100:1 to 600:1 ratio) and meet quarterly to develop and review their academic plans and goals. Scholars have peer support because they are part of a group that shares their early college experiences together and takes the same classes.

Additional financial assistance for college expenses beyond tuition, including school-related expenses such as books, child care, food, housing, and transportation, is available to students who demonstrate financial need through the Seattle Promise Equity Scholarship.
The program continues to expand as more needs are identified, including providing students with career and work experience through the Opportunity Promise summer internship program and exploring transfer partnerships with four-year universities.
Seattle Public High School seniors are encouraged to begin the application process at the end of their senior year.
